Spring 2023 Season
Thank you for your interest in becoming a head/assistant/dugout coach for the Spring 2023 Season at Farragut Baseball! It is because of individuals like you that our league is able to provide recreational baseball for age groups 3-18 so thank you in advance. Your time and dedication are greatly appreciated and you will be able to make a significant impact on more than one child this season!
The following text contains pertinent information that must be read, forms completed, and submitted to the league for consideration in coaching this season and the deadline to do so is Sunday, February 5. There is a lot of information below so be sure to read in its entirety. Please note that an inquiry or submission of a coaching form application or any other coaching forms by any individual does not guarantee a coaching spot in any age division. For consideration on becoming a coach this season, follow the steps listed below.
1. Every coach - head, assistant, dugout - must complete the four (4) online forms listed below. These must be completed prior to practices starting each season as these do not automatically roll over.
2. NEW! Starting in Spring 2023, all coach's forms can all be found online in our system, please log in to your account in order to complete. These will be under the Volunteer section.
3. These forms must be completed and verified by Farragut Baseball in order to be considered for coaching for the upcoming season.
4. While we do our best to work with everyone that applies, we cannot guarantee or reserve a team for anyone in any age division.
5. Failure to complete forms in a timely manner and/or comply with the listed policies, codes, and responsibilities set forth by Knox County Parks & Recreation and/or Farragut Baseball Inc. may result in loss of coaching opportunity, regardless of returning or new coaches, as well as suspension or forfeiture from coaching and any other necessary actions and discipline deemed appropriate.

National Background Security Check
EVERY head coach, assistant coach, and dugout coach MUST complete a national background security check as required by Knox County Parks & Recreation. This Knox County rule went into effect in January 2014 and is used for all school and recreational sports within the county and must be completed and verified prior to the start of practices for Spring 2023. This background check MUST be completed through the Knox County portal as required by Knox County Parks & Recreation. No other outside background checks will be accepted whether through your employer or other leagues including Knoxville City. Individuals must pass the Knox County national security background check within the past two (2) years.
A comprehensive list will be provided from Farragut Baseball to Knox County Parks & Rec for verification and approval prior to the beginning of practices and/or games for the Spring 2023 Season for all coaches and dugout parents. If your background check is not successful, you will not be able to coach for the season or any other future season until this has been completed or your status has changed.
NOTE: If your last national background check was taken prior to Spring 2021, you will need to submit a new one as they expire after two (2) years. Also, by Knox County policy, a reminder that any dugout coaches or “dugout moms/dads” that are assisting players on a regular basis on the field or in the dugout MUST complete the background check as well, no exceptions. *Youth under the age of 18 that assist with practices are not required to take a background check.

TEAM SPONSORS for 2023
As in previous years, those coaching in Hank Aaron (7U) and above leagues must secure a team sponsor ($300 = good for all of Spring and Fall 2023 seasons). Please contact only myself at [email protected] or Sara Branson at [email protected] in order to protect the confidentiality of the player(s), family, and any other information involved.
2. There will be a mandatory league meeting for coaches to be held prior to practices beginning. Each team in each age division, T-Ball - Mickey Mantle, must have a minimum of one coach representative, preferably the head coach. All assistant coaches are welcome. There will be a Sign-Up Genius sent out to coaches prior to this event via email. More information will be provided by late January.
